Renault Says It Is Sure To Catch Mercedes GP

Bold statements like this are what make for great rivalries!

But who would have thought it would be Rosberg and not Schumi in Renault's way??

very interesting twist in the tale, I wonder how Renault's resurgence will influence the title

Renault is doing very well with Kubica at the helm and Petrov doesn't look too bad either. Not sure if they'll trully surpass Mercedes this year, but they deserve kudos for what they've accomplished thus far.

Renault has looked really good. Petrov did some great driving in Malaysia.. obviously Kubica did too.

Ross Brawn took a massive gamble last year buy allocating all of his team's development budget to the front end of the season with very little (or none) for the back end. His gamble paid off. Remember he had two incumbent drivers and built the car to suit them.

This year they have two new drivers. I expect them to keep developing the car all year in line with Michael and Nico's familiarity with their new team.

While I'd love to see Renault succeed, it would be naive to write off Mercedes, and particularly Ross Brawn, this early.

I don't think anyone is writing off McLaren. I wouldn't be surprised if there were 5 "top" teams by the end of this season - Ferrari, McLaren, RBR, Brawn, Renault. Of those 5 teams, I'd honestly be least surprised if Ferrari finished outside of the top 3.. Even less surprised than if Brawn actually got into the top 3.

Edit: I think I might have written that in a really confusing way...

Point is:
Not surprised = Ferrari not top 3
Even Less surprised = Brawn finishes in 3rd (behind McLaren and RBR)
