British sports fans have voted Monaco, home of the famous Grand Prix on the streets of Monte Carlo, their favourite global sporting venue.

In the 'Barclays Seven Sporting Wonders of the World' survey, 18 percent said the Monaco track was the greatest destination outside the UK.

In second and third places were FC Barcelona's Nou Camp stadium, which is the largest football venue in Europe, and the unique 'Bird's Nest' Olympic stadium in Beijing, the world's largest steel structure.


More stadiums completed the Seven Sporting Wonders, including Bernabeu in Madrid, Milan's San Siro, Maracana in Rio de Janeiro, and the 100,000-capacity Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Wembley was voted the top UK venue.
