Schumacher donates to Bill Clinton foundation

Michael Schumacher has emerged high on a list of donors to the humanitarian foundation run by former American President Bill Clinton.

Clinton made the list public this week to avoid any suggestion of conflict of interest as his wife Hillary prepares to become secretary of state in the new Barack Obama administration.

It was revealed that the retired Schumacher, F1's most successful driver in history, gave between $5 and $10 million to the William J. Clinton Foundation, whose stated aim is to 'strengthen the capacity of people throughout the world to meet the challenges of global interdependence'.

Some of the projects funded by the foundation include initiatives to tackle AIDS and climate change.

With Schumacher in the $5-10m donors category is the government of Norway.

So is $5-$10 million a category on the list followed by a list of names? Or can they not tell you exactly who donated what?

Didn't Michael Schumacher give the largest charitable donation to the tsunami fund that wiped out a huge chunk of Southern Asian?

Yeah he donated $10 million as soon as it happened. His bodyguard was killed in Thailand when the tsunami hit.

Yup, approx 10million. He donated more than any athlete, corporation and even some countries! I have a documentary about him made either this or last year and maybe prior to this 10million he donated 80million in his lifetime. What more could you want from the worlds first sports billionaire.

Cheers Shumi
