SmugMug vs. Zenfolio

I have been a loyal SmugMug user for about 3 years now. There are things I like about it and things I hate about it. But the thing that really upsets me is that it has not changed much over the past 3 years and just feels a bit old fashioned.

I also find the interface to be really clunky and hard to navigate. It is particularly hard to create subcategories that go deeper than one level.

So I began looking for other pro-level hosting sites and came across Zenfolio. It appears to be SmugMug's big competition in the market at this level.

Does anyone have any experience with Zenfolio? More specifically, can anyone compare it with SmugMug in terms of features (I already know the cost differences)?

Any input would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Dana

As you see it, what are the advantages of using either of those sites compared to something like Flickr or Picasa? For ease of use, those two are about as good as it gets, imo. Only downside is that you can't sell photos like you can with SmugMug.

The best part about Zenfolio is that it allows you to upload and retain the original photo - even in RAW format - up to 48 GB.

Hey Dana, also check out Pictage. I have been a Smugmug pro user since you signed up as well, but I agree, it could be a lot better. Pictage seems to be another big competitor.

I have been using SM for about 4 years now. But I dont use their customization. Mostly use it for sale, and for hosting my shots.

I have used Flickr, and PB in the past and hated both.
