First time taking pictures

Well first time doing anything other than point and shoot when someone asks. And I love it. Bought a Rebel T3 before my recent trip to Capitola and East Asia. Love exploring new vantage points. I'd love any feedback. Also, most are of the family, none are posed or set up and most are photoshopped. Thanks guys.

I'm really digging these, Ashok! Great composition and post processing.

These are my favorites:

x2 on the composition and post processing. I like the feel that you managed to get out of some of these shots. Hard to believe you only just got a DSLR.

Thanks guys, means a lot. Any tips on post processing to get a really visceral black and white image that's reminiscent of film black and white? I can't seem to find a good tutorial online. I have some pics that would really benefit from that.

What program are you using to process the photos? I do most of my editing in Adobe Camera Raw (it's built into Photoshop CS5) and for what you'd asking, I just convert to B&W and then crank up the contrast or pump up the shadows a bit depending on the photo.

I use CS5 but using grayscale or black and white adjustments don't really give me the kind of intensity I'm looking to get out of the shot.

Very nice pics, Ashok.

But IMO, some pics' saturation needs to be corrected. The colours seem to be very light. Or did you set it up like that?
