Just launched a new project - a city-centric photo showcase
Hey guys, some friends and I just launched Welcome to Capshured - Photos from your city. It's a social showcase for photographers who (for now) live/work in major cities, allowing them to share their best work. It has some pretty cool features that borrow from some popular social apps like Foursquare, but we designed it to give photo enthusiasts a cool venue for sharing and viewing photos with people that live around them. We're launching in nine major cities, but will add more over time.
We put a fair amount of off-hours time into this, so I'd love your feedback, and hopefully you guys dig it and start sharing some photos (and sending it to your friends
).
Also, if you're a pro, this should give you yet another way to get clients. We'll be adding some more features for pros in the coming months too.

Very cool! I just joined and submitted a few photos from my trip to Chicago for the "shapes" contest. The layout of the site is really cool and I love the concept!
Any chance you'll include Minneapolis in the near future?

We'll include any city after a few different people request it (there's a link on the front page), Minneapolis is a good call. For the first few weeks we'll probably leave it with the 9 there now.

Just wanted to say it again, this is an awesome idea and I really think you guys will have a ton of success with it!

Thanks again, we'll keep at it! I know we have a bunch of photogs here, so hopefully people dig it.

We only added cities where we had friends, since we didn't want a city sitting there empty.

We're going to be adding the concept of city ambassadors soon, allowing a select few people to essentially own their city and review the photos that come in. It could be a cool way for pros to promote themselves, as well as just plain fun for anyone into photography.
If anyone is interested, let me know. We're looking for someone who can help get a city going.
