News lens advice - want to get a prime lens
Picked up a Canon T1i a while ago with the kit lens, and am looking to get another lens for more artistic shots. I'd like to start out with a prime lens, mainly because I think it's a great way to improve.
I'm thinking a 50mm prime makes sense to start, because it closely matches the perspective of the human eye. Does this make sense?
Looking at this one: EOS (SLR) Camera Systems - Standard & Medium Telephoto - Standard & Medium Telephoto Lens - EF 50mm f/1.4 USM - Canon USA Consumer Products
Any input is appreciated, thanks guys.

Agreed...
I shoot with a 40D (crop), and find the 50mm to be too much zoom. I'm sure it'd be perfect on the full frame, but for a crop I'd definitely pick something in between the 16-35mm range if you're looking for true perspective.

I got it for her from www.bhphotovideo.com (mods please remove the link if I am not allowed to post it). They had a good price with free shipping and a decent return policy if it is not what you want.

Running a crop body here too (7D). I find the Sigma 30mm is great for outdoors (low light/ running amok) and landscape. I would also pair it up with a 85mm 1.8 as the 30mm is a bit short for taking photos around the house or for theatre and the like.
Good luck!
