I also pre-ordered the Canon SX-210, which is also a full manual pocket camera but it has a really long focal range. I am a camera whore in case you couldn't tell!

PowerShot SX210 IS Digital Camera
Just read the specs for this. I don't think it has the twin manual control dials like the s90. If you've tried the S90, you'll know just how cool it is to have that on a pocket cam.......

Between those 2, get the LX3. I had decided on that before coming to Thailand and was going to buy it but decided i'd just take my DSLR instead. Id have no real use for it after the trip.

Just saw Dana's comment. I love my SLR too. D300S. But with 4 lenses, even if I just choose the ONE or TWO I want to carry, it's a lot of gear and size compared to a G camera, and especially to those two new Canon S's......

But always, it's the archer, not the arrow. Our equipment is only as good as the operator. And Green is showing us he's one smooth operator!!!
Both of the S90 and SX-210 have the same sensor as in the G9/10/11.

I also considered the Panny LX3 but decided to go with the S90 because the S90 takes much better pics at higher ISOs and the focal range of the S90 is longer. Check out the reviews and sample pics on this site and there is no way you'll want to go with the Panny. The image quality on the S90 is so much better. The only downside I could see to the S90 is that it suffers from some barrell distortion when taking pics in RAW, but that is easily correctable with a few clicks in DPP or Photoshop.

Haha, another camera geek. Ya, I know it's got the same sensor, that's why I dig it. Same picture quality, faster lens, full manual control with ease of use front and rear ring dials, and FULLY pocketable!!! Mmmmm ya, that's a sweet little cam. I was just commenting that I don't think that the SX210 has the same front and rear ring dials. If my G9 had those, I'd keep it despite it's size disadvantage to the S90. But as it is, I'm probably gonna sell it by summer and grab an S90. Boys and their toys hey. It never ends.

Here's a pic from last fall of my car with the G9. I was experimenting with long exposures. Just good fun.

^ Yeah, no ring dial on the SX210, but the thing has massive range for a camera of that size (28-392MM 35MM equivalent), full manual controls and a fairly wide lens at the low f-stop of 3.1. It's a pretty cool little package. I just wish they had made it 1080p rather than 720p for the movie mode. They cheaped out on that. But I rarely use these little cameras for movies. So no biggie.
