I have a D90 and have the Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G Zoom Super Wide Angle Nikkor Super Wide Angle-Telephoto AF Zoom Autofocus Lens. You just can't beat it! I am not a pro. But this camera rig makes it look like I am!

Nice! That's great to hear.

Check out the rest of my pics at Downforce Media.
You can see the progression of my shots getting better and better with different cameras. Then the most recent one's just go off the chart. That's when I got the D90 rig.
These were all taken at some distance with the regular lens.

I am also confused because the ad that I bought this from shows this:
As one of the lenses, but the picture seems to be this: Nikon | Digital Archives on Camera Products | AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED (3.0x)
But the description matches this, which is the lens that I posted in the original post:
Nikon | 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED II AF-S DX Lens | 2170 | B&H Photo

^^^ Don't worry, it's the same lens. Neither of those lens are top shelf quality (obviously) but they should suit you fine for awhile if this is your first DSLR. As your budget increases, you will probably want to pick up some faster glass (i.e. f/2.8 or faster). Don't worry about buying these right away, but here are some other inexpensive lenses that are really important to have:
Nikkor 50mm AF-D f/1.4
Tamron 17-50 AF f/2.8
Sigma 70-200 AF f/2.8
While the Tamron and Sigma both overlap focal lengths compared to lenses you'll already be getting, they are lightyears better in terms of both speed (focus time as well as faster shutter speeds in low light situations) and build quality. I threw the Nikkor 50mm f/1.4 on there because I just feel that everyone should have that lens in their camera bag. I got mine used for about $250, but if you really want to do it on the cheap, look for the Nikkor 50 f/1.8, which can be found for less than $100 and is nearly as fast and sharp as the f/1.4.
If you have any other questions about Nikon gear and lenses, please feel free to ask and I'll be happy to help in any way I can!

Right now i'm still on a D70s for the time being with a Nikon 18-70, and a Sigma 70-300mm which are really cheap basic lenses... However, swapping lenses gets annoying, at least with the kind of photos I take so I was wondering if you knew of a lens that could accomplish what both of those do...
Is there such thing as a 18-300mm? Relatively inexpensive? (i'm not exactly a pro!)
