Audi unveils the RS Q3 Concept
Audi's RS performance division has turned its attention to SUVs, namely the Q3, and created this monster, the RS Q3 Concept.
Under the bonnet is a 2.5-litre turbocharged monster producing around 350hp of power, which is enough to propel it from rest to 62mph in just 5.2 seconds.
The body has been lowered by about an inch and then widened to "explore the potential of the Q3 model series in a new way," says Audi.
The black grille has brushed and polished aluminium trim while the headlights are slightly tinted; inside them, some chrome parts are dark or covered by panels of carbon fibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP).
Inside, the blue of the exterior is echoed in the CFRP decorative panels – the panel material was produced by weaving brilliant blue luminescent glass fibres into it. The steering wheel has large control stalks made of CFRP, which are framed by aluminium accents.
A layered-carbon trim panel covers the area around the five-cylinder engine that sports a red valve cover, and two laterally arranged ventilation screens feed air to the engine.
The gearbox? Well, that's a seven-speed S tronic which drives all four wheels. Could this be the next Audi WRC car? We can only wish.
The RS Q3 Concept will be shown at Auto China 2012 in Beijing for the next few weeks.
