LEDs in terms of lighting are nothing new. The reason why manufacturers don't use them is the same as I stated above. An expensive solution for a non-existant problem.

LED tailights were created to stop harrasing dealers and customers into replacing broken taillight bulbs. LEDs generally last upwards of 100,000 hours, so they never need replacing. However, with headlights, they are not as bright, and a severe amount of money needs to be spent on lens design...which is what makes an LED bulb function. The problem with LEDs is that if one goes, the entire panel needs to be replaced...as they are all attached to a circuit board. (Ask anyone who had an LED die in their third brake light.)

When Infinity came out with the gattling gun projector setup, and Lexus came out with the tilting headlights, they didn't charge for it....and those were actually useful.

I'm glad they created them, but again, they should be standard, not optional extras.
