Audi unveils TT RS racer
#1

AutoExpress tells us Audi is keen to prove its cars can perform on the racetrack as well as the road. The firm will hit the circuit later this month with a new endurance racing car based on the TT RS.
Designed to be sold to customer racing teams, Audi has teamed up with German preparation specialists Raeder Motorsport to develop the TT for competition.
The body features an exaggerated, DTM-style bodykit and huge rear wing, while the interior has been stripped out and now features a fully integrated rollcage. Under the bonnet, the car features a tuned version of the 2.5-litre five-cylinder engine in the road car. The suspension has also been upgraded.
To keep costs down, the TT RS shares some parts with the R8 LMS racer, and has the same wing mirrors as the R8 GT road car.
The racer is just at the prototype stage at present, and will be entered in the last two rounds of this year’s German VLN long-distance racing championship held on the legendary Nurburgring Nordschleife. The data obtained will be used to improve the car over the winter.
