Audi R4’s future status is still ‘undecided’.
Sources which are very deeply embedded in Audi and in very high up positions claims that the future of the trio of new cars out of the VW group which includes the VW BlueSport, the Audi R4 and Porsche 356 is in some doubt.
The main stumbling block seems to be manufacturing issues, more specifically, if the aluminum spaceframe chassis of the R4 can be used across the lineup.
The pricepoint of this chasis is not very cost friendly, and thats likely to make execs @ VW not too happy with the prospect of producing three cars with such a frame.
With economies of scale so vital to a project like this, the life of this car can certainly be said to hang in the balance.
