Drove the only TT-RS in America this morning...
And YES, I do have pics. But first, let me set the scenario:
My wife and I headed to our local Starbucks to link up with my buddy (RS4 driver). While we were chit-chatting, I noticed this black, nasty-sounding TT coming in. Since I've seen the TT-RS on Autoblog, etc. (it's black), I thought, "Could it be?" I told my wife and friend I thought it was the TT-RS I'd read about. Sure enough, it was. I started walking up to the guy driving and he had a big, knowing grin on his face. Turns out he's an Audi of America employee and a real car nut. As I checked out the car and asked if I could snap some pics, he asked me if I wanted to drive it. That's like asking Jox if he'd like some warm penis on a cold morning... So of course I did.
It's a great car. REALLY fast, awesome sound from the 5-cylinder, lots of good turbo noises, loud exhaust, etc. It's got a nice, short shift, and even with all the nannies turned off, it had a ton of stability and grip. I was very impressed. Apparently this car is coming to the US in spring 2011 as a 2012 model. My new friend at Audi also told me the RS5 is one of his top-five cars of all time. I told him it looked disappointing and he told me the flared fenders, etc. are VERY noticeable in person. So I'm angling to drive that, too.
Here are some more pics - the guy is my buddy Luis, the beautiful woman is my wife, Mary Beth. And yes, she wants one. In red.
And no, my wife was not naked.

I bet that car was a blast to drive!
definitely a great opportunity you stumbled upon there Chris. A coworker and I are always talking about that TT-RS and how we never get the really special Audis here and low and behold you drove one......

I disagree - normally I don't like black cars, but this car was pretty sweet in black. It's a tough color to photograph, but it looked great in person. If I were to buy one, I'd do Misano Red or Sprint Blue. If Avus Silver were available, I bet that'd be hot, too.
