After seeing the work some of the detailer's do to cars, I wouldn't let paint be that huge a factor. Sure, you can judge a lot about a cars history by the paint, but I wouldn't rule it out completely.

best of luck on your search though. I'm holding out on a similarly rare car (e39 touring with manual transmission in any colour but silver with miles under 100k)

Generally, the service folks are the types that marry their sisters. They tend to be retards.

Anyway, I agree re: waiting for the right 335i. Supply should continue to increase as '07 - '08 cars come off lease and often find their way to auction and private dealers (i.e. not to a dealer lot, where you'll see the exorbitant asking prices).

I'll keep my eye out.

Just make sure you get a CPO'd one... as these cars are notorious for failing fuel pumps...

Sure, don't completely rule it out as any used car will have less than pristine paint. But his general point was that most of their lease returns are treated as well as purchased vehicles. Puhleeez.

GL on that search. E39 tourings are a rare enough bird. But a 6 speed? Yikes

Is that re-tard, like Rain-Man? While the prices are jacked up on the dealer lots, that's probably where I'll restrict most of my search seeing as I want to trade in my Mini and not deal with a private sale and getting it CPO'd is much easier if already done by the stealer (as opposed to trying to get one done on a private party sale).

And thanks!

335i - supposedly they just recently came out with a fix for it. But it has not been confirmed.

there are less than 200 2003 540it (m-tech's) known, so I'd imagine the total output of the whole run to be less than 2000 for the 6 speed.

We'd be more interested in a face-lifted 528it, or 525it most likely.

Nice one. Not a big fan of time attack stripes on wheels. Soooo 2 years ago But looks great nonetheless. Now if it only came CPO'd and few thousand cheaper, I'd be all over it like white on rice. Will keep it in mind. Thanks for the link.
