Cracked multi-function display

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone has dealt with the multifunction display on an audi being damaged? We had a recent bout of cold weather (-18F or so) and the display developed first a crack (little messed up vein) and not it has spread to looking like the pic below.

Is there a source for a new/used display? Is this a self install type item or a dealership thing?

I would recommend you that you should visit the dealership and check it. They should help you out! good luck!

Pixels are toast - most common fault in the world among Audis, Bimmers and Mercs. Easy and cheap fix for an electronics freak but the dealership will probably want to sell you an entirely new gauge. Don't even bother with them.

Have you garaged it some place warm to see if it disappears? I have an E-class with that exact problem whenever it's below the freezing points, but disappears in the summer. My E60 had it too. And my A8. And my S4. And my A6. And my A4s.

Jox, thanks a bunch. I've got nowhere warm to garage it. Everywhere in tahoe is cold unless I find a friend with a heated garage.

Right now its no big deal, but if it spreads and affects something useful it might be a problem. The PDF seems to suggest its just the bond (glue) holding the contacts on. Might not be a big deal at all...

The multi-f(x) display on my GLX jetta does sort of the opposite. When it is hot out, the screen gets like bleached out. But when it is cold it works well. On my car I don't really care because all it functions to do is say how horrible the VR6 jetta gas mileage; something I alreayd know!
