5 Days of track abuse in a new R8. What!?

Could anyone on this forum quite possibly put their R8 through back to back track days ? or drive their car to its limits?

Yes. There is one such man, and he will likely chime in before he takes his VF supercharged R8 to its next track session.

Until then, here are some pictures of him burning through his Toyo R888 tires around Spring Mountain (NV) and Infineon Raceway (CA).

18 Oct 2009 Spring Mountain Racetrack (Parhump)

Cooling off in between 4 track sessions per day! Hanging out with VF supercharged RS4. Notice the techs sitting around with nothing to do.

After a day and a half of redlining around the track, the owner was quite satifsfied and asked for some alterations to the software. The latest OEM update Ver100 from Audi had a gradual ramp up which he did not like when coming out of a corner. Our software developer GIAC adjusted the software to make it more aggressive by allowing the throttle to open to 100% from as low as 1500 rpm with the supercharger.

From a product developers perspective, successful track testing is the ultimate feather in ones cap. But to top it, there is something further...

That is, more track testing!! The owner of the R8 was not content with the odd occassional track session and being a trunk junkie he started looking for his next fix. After leaving his carbon footprint in Southern California he quickly found his way 3rd gearing around Napa Valley going through the vineyards and ended up at Infineon Raceway!

As he was on his own, we were not able to get any action shots. It is possible the owner may have picked up some of the resident photographers shots of him on the track. We do have video and will post up part 2 of of our 3 part series.

Always nice to see someone doing what they should with one of those cars.
