ctracer is an unknown quantity at this point
RS4.. newer, less problems, just as fast if not faster than the m5, and AWD is important to some also

Because you have friends???

To me that sounds like a big stretch.

Ranger
Of course it is, I'm talking about the E39 M5.

I am a car enthusiast and can rationalize such a purchase, but anybody have any other opinions?

(To me I see a truly special sedan that can go fast, haul the family, be sleek and low-key, and go to the track at the same time.)
Said sleek?

S4s man... B6 model before the facelift. Im sad they didnt make the RS4 in this version.
I currently drive the regular B6 A4 of it.
With some nice snow tires in the winter, she just plows thru the snow like its nothing. Cant imagine how the S4 performs.

No offense, but no where near a RS4, I have a lot of experience with the S4.

Really? I almost bought an RS4 on looks alone, and I don't normally think like that. Oh well, to each their own.

I sold my 997S cab for an RS4, then again I commute daily with 4 dogs. Needed the room.

Here are some pics of my old RS4:

It is the BEST daily driver you could ever hope for. Fast, good-looking, comfortable, practical, etc. It really does everything. If I were a more rational person, I'd have kept it since it really does check all the boxes. I whole-heartedly recommend it over the E39 M5, the Cayman S, etc. (I owned a Cayman along with the RS4). It is that great of an automobile. I'll own another one day.
