Thanks for all the kind words and welcomes y'all. I figure I owe you guys a summary of mods done to the car.
1. Wheels: Klassen K8.2; 20x9 in front and 20x11 in back; chrome lips, brushed face, and color matched windows
2. Tires: Toyo Proxes T1R; 265/30/20 front, 315/25/20 rear
3. E-code headlights
4. KW V2 coilovers
5. Stasis ARB
6. B&B Catback Exhaust
The car is Daytona Gray Pearl, which was done with the Audi Exclusive program since its not available on the S5 otherwise. Putting 315's on the car wasn't my first idea, but getting my hands on a good set of 305's proved to more difficult than anticipated. So, I went with the 315's. These tires are heavier than my previous wheel setup (HRE P40 with 275/30/20). When I first installed the HRE's, I was startled by how much quicker it accelerated off of the line over the stock setup. After installing the new tires, the car is somewhat slower off the line, but it is minimal. Also, I don't perceive (by the seat-o-tha-pants meter) any change in acceleration from 50-70 or even up to 80. I think that since the wheels are much lighter than stock that the acceleration is probably comparible to stock with the big tires; however, I don't know it as fact.
Regarding the understeer, I installed an ARB before putting these wheels on. The ARB made the car feel like it was on rails with the HRE's (275's). After putting the Klassen's on, there is a noticible increase in understeering tendancies when pushed hard, but for normal driving around town it is not perceptible. I think that the ARB helps a bunch in this regard.
In the end, going with either 305's or 315's is only for looks as there are no performance advantages to be had. I'm loving the look as the car looks mean as ever, but I have noticed some minimal decreases in the performance over the HRE's. However, if I was only interested in performance, then I'd probably be mounting a set of 19's or even 18's on the car. I hope this all makes some sense. Just my $0.02 on the subject.
