MTI Turbines...

TurboChris is an unknown quantity at this point
MTI Turbines...

Are they really as low maint. as I have heard a couple of people say? Some make it sound like they cost a fraction of what you'd spend to keep up a twin or triple motor'd offshore.......

That's also what I hear about the turbine boats. The maintenance intervals make the initial investment worthwhile. If I recall, the reason being that the turbines don't need to be re-built for a few hundred hours. On the other hand, two big blocks probably need freshening every 30 hours or so and probably re-builds every 100 hours. Those are guesses.

that what I have heard.

they also don't like to be idled, so if you have long no wake zones, it might not work out so well.

I've heard that they don't like salt water very much and lead to some expensive repairs if this is where you use it often.
