December Driving Conditions in NYC?
Hi,
I'll be in NYC for New Years and was thinking of renting a car and heading out of the city and having a look around. I've been to New York a lot before just not at this time of year. Am I right in thinking it will be snowing and driving conditions not worth it?
I'm thinking along the lines of Ferrari/Lambo apposed to SUV.
Thanks!

As a former NY'er, I'll have to disagree. Crap roads + psychotic taxi drivers + possibility of snow (or at minimum, cold weather on summer tires on a low to the ground sports car) = very bad idea. Just hoof it on foot or take the subway.

Even on a gorgeous day I wouldn't have the balls to drive a Lambo or Ferrari through the city...
Like bonehead said... Potholes, taxi's, buses, congestion, driving laws (the box) - you're just asking for trouble.
My buddy actually recently got hit by a bus in his CL500, totaled the car.

Thanks for the quick responses. Only car that was available for the date I considered was Gallardo E-Gear, which although is probably the best supercar for bad weather, I'll give it a miss and hold out for summer and good weather.
The US rental car selection and prices really are too good to miss out on.

Driving conditions in NYC and the boroughs is lamentable year round. It will take a 45 minute drive before you can relax and enjoy whatever exotic you rent otherwise you will be wasting money - unless a slow cruise with occasional bursts of acceleration to the next light will satisfy you.
