Ai Design Ducati Desmosedici RR

Hey Guys, just wanted to post some photos of a recent radar install we had the pleasure of taking on. Motorcycles aren't our usual cup of tea here at Ai, however we love getting the opportunity to take on any project, no matter how large or small. This particular install involved designing and integrating an audible radar detection setup on an especially rare Ducati Desmosedici RR.

Looks like a lot of work, but the radar detector is angeled downward. It should be parallel to the ground unless the guy is going to be doing a permanent wheelie.

Stan - looks like nice work but why wouldn't the rider just use a wireless display unit in his helmet? That is what I use - it can be audio and/or small flash off to side of shield.

To be completely constructively honest, it looks terrible.

The input holder behind the seat is trick, but the cockpit looks like a complete afterthought. There has to be a cleaner way to hide the unit.

The Desmosedici is pure perfection. I'm not a fan of tacking anything on to a bike like this, but at least it's a clean install.

To be honest, the photos actually make the angle look far more severe than it is in reality. We made sure to test the unit with our own radar gun from a variety of different angles and distances, and found that the performance was on par with what we normally experience.

We had discussed using the Vizalert V2 display interface, however in the case the client really wanted an audio alert and did not like the LED display in his helmet. Which system are you currently running?

SAB, appreciate the input. We actually had to mount the V1 unit where it is for a couple of reasons. First being that there simply was not enough room to work with inside of the bike to "hide" the unit, not to mention that the entire front of the bike is constructed out of carbon fiber, which can severely affect performance of the unit. It also allows for the directional display to still be visible for the rider when desired, which is something that the client preferred should they ever chose to make use of it.

I have the H.A.R.D. system. Not sure if it is still available though. There are others out there.
