I am thinking of buying either a R1 or a bmw s1000. I looked at the R1 not too familer with the s1000. What are you're thoughts?

I've had a few R1s and just rode the S1000 RR at Superbike School last week. I haven't ridden the latest R1 but I have always loved the handling of the Yamaha's. You really can't go wrong either way, but the S1000 has more technology built in and is very, very fast. What's you riding experience?

I have been riding a few years now. I know both bikes close in performance, I haven't the s1000 in person. I took a look at the r1 and thought it looked good, felt great and was comfortable for a sport bike. When I get a chance I need to check out the s1000

What year R1 are you looking for? The 2009 onwards are not even close in performance, and there are a lot more toys on the BMW. That being said the motor on the R1 is intoxicating with a set of Leo Vince or Akros. If you can get pass the looks of the BMW, then go for it, but I prefer the r1.

3RS4.0 is an unknown quantity at this point
They're both really good bikes. I personally would go with the S1000RR. It's a lot of bike and then some.

Hi SRatha, I would be looking for a new 2011 R1. I heard one with the Akros and wow! I was leaning that way till a friend told me ablout the s1000. I will check out the s1000 but I saw the r1 in black and fell in love.
