Post-season shoulder surgery planned for Rossi
t is being reported that current MotoGP World Champion Valentino Rossi will undergo surgery on his shoulder at the end of the 2010 season, with the wait to fully recover still ongoing following his heavy crash at Mugello in early June.
The Italian Yamaha rider – who moves to Ducati next year - was temporarily put out of action following his crash, which also resulted in a broken leg, although post-season surgery is set to finally relieve the 31-year-old of intermittent pains.
“At the end of the day, the main problem is the shoulder,” he explained on Italian television, “and at the end of the year I'll have to have it operated on.”
Rossi currently sits fourth in the championship standings with six races still to run, just nine points in arrears of third-placed rider Andrea Dovizioso of Honda.
