Spies to TEAM YAMAHA!
Moto-Racing Article
The German GP from the Sachsenring will air LIVE on SPEED on Sunday, July 18 at 8:00am EST.
Ben Spies has a plan and if it comes off all eyes will be on him at Laguna Seca this Sunday. The American loves the track and he intends to show it in the U.S. Grand Prix, the ninth round of the MotoGP World Championship.
A racing realist, Spies doesn't make rash predictions but he has sharp understanding of his own potential, especially as a Laguna Seca track specialist from his days as a dominant force in AMA Superbike.
Spies, the reigning World Superbike Champion who will be in the factory Yamaha MotoGP squad in 2011, is targeting a season-best result in his home race on Sunday with the Monster Tech3 Yamaha team.
"The goal is to get my best results of the year in America. I’ve already been on the podium and I want to be back on it," Spies said as he looked ahead to race day.
“I know Laguna and if I don’t have bad luck and everything goes like it could go, I could get on the podium there. With all the contenders that are riding as good as they are now, it is still possible. How hard it is going to be? Extremely hard. My goal is to finish in the top five, but I think with how everything is going and if I have a great qualifying session I could see the podium there."
