Hennessey Performance Engineering is still working on their tuned version of the new Dodge Challenger SRT8 and work is progressing very positively. The latest news from Hennessey is that its 2008 Dodge Challenger SRT600 Turbo can scream down a quarter-mile in 11.9 seconds at 121 mph (video posted after the jump).
Hennessey is offering two versions of the Challenger SRT600 Turbo. One produces 620-hp with a peak torque of 650 lb-ft while the other produces 650-hp with a torque of 680 lb-ft. Both get extra power from Garrett 67 mm Ball-Bearing Turbocharger, stainless steel turbo headers and other modifications (a complete list is pasted after the jump). The 620-hp Challenger SRT600 Turbo does 0-60 mph in 3.8 seconds while the 650-hp version does it in 3.6 seconds.
Other modifications include a transmission upgrade, KW adjustable suspension, Stoptech 6-piston front brakes and 4-pistons in the rear, a polished intake manifold, Hennessey embroidered head rests, 20-inch wheels and SRT600 Turbo exterior graphics kit.

as chris said, it's probably due to traction. there have been bone stock E63 AMG's running 11.9 @ 118/119mph, 4000+ pounds with "only" 420whp.

Suspension can make a huge difference to. My car "only" makes about 400 rwhp, but it runs solid mid 11's.
Bottom line is there are many variables, but the 4000 pound curb weight isn't helping. Either way, I love the new Challengers.
