I truly hope the new mustang looks close to somthi8ng like this. Well maybe the headlights could be a bit more open, but other than that I like it. Far better than whats rolling around now. Sure it's looks a lot like the fusion but thats ford for you..

This looks absolutely nothing like a Mustang. This would be a huge mistake and an end of an era for the Mustang.

 

Looks like a cross between a dodge charger and a ford fusion. Def not a better look ....

 

Too much Ford Taurus inspiration. The Mustang essence its almost gone with that... design.

I agree Tay, if Ford use this design the oroginal Mustang legancy will slowly die until theres nothing left.

I disapree. I think it does look like a Mustang, in an evolutionary sense. How many times can they dip back into the retro theme? Should the next Mustang look like the '79-'93?

This is the problem I've always had with retro styled cars like the current Camaro. Where does it go from here? Instead of evolving the design forward, retro designs take a huge step back to conjure up good feelings from days gone by. It interrupts the lineage from generation to generation and leaves you with nowhere from which to start anew.

When the Camaro was updated from '81 to '82, there were few design cues carried over, other than general proportions. And yet somehow the '82 still looked like a Camaro. It was a good design in that looked forward while still being somewhat familiar. Ford didn't put a new design on the 2005 Mustang, but rather just a modernization of an old one. Everyone loved it of course, but Ford missed the chance to design a truly modern Mustang. Now, ten years later, that's what they're trying to do, and they know that no matter what the result is, some people will hate it.

In order to captivate a new generation of Mustang lovers and aspirational future owners (thus keeping the car relevant), Ford needs to offer something fresh. They're not going to do that by offering yet another rehash of a desgin for which younger people have no nostalgia.

Personally I've thought for a long time that Mustangs were too short, too tall and just generally too heavy looking for what their mission is. I would welcome a sleek Mustang even more radical than the drawing above.

 

No offense but you maybe right but how does the current mustang have any relation the mustang era. People said the same thing when the recent model came out and look at it now. The "rendering" of what could be the new stan, you still see much of the current model from the doors back, but more refined.

but still we can not judge till we actually see the showroom model.

 

I can't wait for the new car. It has been printed over and over again that ford will be doing away with the retro-styling

 

Aren't all mustangs after this one really just POS's?
