Yes really. It's called the Corvette Daytona Prototype for a reason. Yes, a lot of things are different, but it wears the Corvette flags, uses the Chevy small block, and looks like a Corvette.

Yep, the Corvette is the same car as this because it wears the same badge and shares a similar engine. Right.
So is the Mosler...

"The 2012 Corvette Daytona Prototype was developed by a multi-faceted effort involving Chevrolet, Corvette Designers, Pratt & Miller and GRAND-AM. Chevrolet also worked closely with chassis builders Riley, Coyote and Dallara," said Mark Kent, GM Racing director. "The IMSA GTP Corvette Prototype campaigned by Hendrick Motorsports in the '80s was the inspiration for this new Chevrolet Corvette Daytona Prototype. And, like the GTP Corvettes, the new Corvette Daytona Prototype contains numerous styling cues from the street version of the Chevrolet Corvette."

If the Ford GT had a Mustang badge sould that mean there is no difference between a Mustang and it?
Because the Mosler MT900S has a rear end similar to the Corvette is it now a Corvette?
There is more to a car than styling cues. I love the this Daytona prototype has Corvette styling cues, but it is in no way similar to the road car.
Let me repeat myself: mid-engine, under 2500lbs and it's weight in downforce. Does a current road legal Corvette do any of that? No.
The whole point is, I love the looks of this racer and a road legal version would be cool. Something that would give the Zonda R a run for its money but can be driven home.
