Mosler Photon

Interesting that the author of the article seems to infer Mosler is on the same "level" as Pagani, Koenigsegg, etc. What do you guys think? Personally, I disagree. Things like build-quality, reliability, etc. keep it in the "kit-car" category IMHO. Nothing against the Mosler cars..they are excellent in their own right, they just don't seem to be in the same league of "supercar".
Is there a category or label for "cars that are born on the track and converted for street" other than "homologation special" ?

Clearly they have different purposes, the Mosler is race track domination that can be driven on the street. The Pagani is a car for art. Every part is beautiful. And it is luxurious for the road. Two completely different cars for different purposes.
The only thing you have wrong is "build-quality, reliability". I have heard numerous times from people who have been in recent Moslers that say fit and finish is top notch, not kit-car like. Reliability is great, like you said, Corvette parts bin. Proven parts that last, especially that engine.
There is no point for Mosler to not use Corvette parts. They don't use that much actually. Mainly engine. And that is the best you can use. Reliable, cheap, light. You can beat the shit out of it and it keeps going. Pretty easy to upgrade for more power too.

Looks like a facelift McLaren F1.. not much "design" put into it but does look nice!
They should be ashamed of themselves to compare themselves with the Pagani Huayra... The Huayra is a marvel in engineering when it comes to every bolt, nut and screw in the car.. even the dials in the car are carefully crafted... all of that luxury with complete absurd power delivery!
Don't want to jack the thread...
Anyway, yea.. the car is alright!

I think it looks badass! I am looking forward to seeing more about this car.
I am fine with the interior. It's not meant to be a luxury car. Just look at the F40's interior, there is nothing. It sure saves a lot of weight. The Mosler has a power to weight ratio of about 2:1. Insane!
I can't personally speak for the build quality, because I've never seen one in person or examined one. But I think "kit car" is a derogatory term that easily gets thrown at some of the more obscure cars by assumption.
I love how they used a 911 GT3 as the pace car, too funny!
