Roush & Shelby 2011 SR-71 Mustang Collaboration
Ok, so it's another 'special edition' Mustang which in itself isn't much of a surprise...Shelby and Roush working together?? Now that caught me off guard! Would have been interesting to hear the decision making process on this project...
I'm loving the new 5.0 in straight GT form and have yet to really push the boundaries so I can only imagine how insane the ride would be with a supercharger.
"The Ford Mustang has always been a tuners’ favorite, and this time the two pioneers of the industry are coming under one hood to tune the powerful muscle car. Carroll Shelby and Jack Roush have teamed up with Ford Motor Company in order to design and produce a new car based on the 2011 Ford Mustang. The new project has been inspired by the SR-71 “Blackbird,” the long-range reconnaissance USAF aircraft built by Lockheed Martin.
The SR-71 Mustang (S for Shelby, R for Roush) features a matte and silver exterior that is flagged by some graphics from the aircraft. To move on to the most interesting portion of the announcement, the SR-71 Mustang, packs under the hood an all-new aluminum block 5.0-lite Ti-VCT V8 engine with a 2.3-liter Whipple Twin Screw Supercharger with Ford Racing calibration and Roush intake. Also offered are a Ford Racing Handling Pack and tuned exhaust and tips, SVT Track Pack wheels in custom paint (19-inch in front, 20-inch in rear) and a new glass roof with unique graphic treatment.
Inside, tuners equip their SR-71 with Custom Recaro race seats featuring embroidered signatures of Jack Roush and Carroll Shelby, custom racing steering wheel, Ford Racing performance gauge cluster, modified navigation screen and instrument cluster, roll cage, removed rear seat as well as custom IP badging, sill plates and floor mats."

Agreed! Haven't driven the new GT500 yet as I fear it would result in me parting with more of my $$$....apparently the weight loss in the front end is dramatic in terms of handling, especially with the performance package, but I'm not sold on the value equation. The difference between a GT and a GT500 buys a ton of mods with cash left over...

I'm not a fan, and I'm a die-hard Mustang enthusiast. The matte color looks great, but the graphics and red stripes make it look like a cheap movie car. I hope it will look better in actual photographs.

I've driven the 2010 GT500, its superb and it can be driven very easily as a Daily car but the oem tyres are really awful. I'd like to lower it a bit and change the tyres, its my friends car and he says the Dealership are really picky as any modification cancels the warranty.
