Ron Fellows Performance Driving School – Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch
Ron Fellows knows a thing or two about performance driving. So much so that Chevy has contracted the Canadian racing legend (4-time ALMS Most Popular Driver award (2004 – 07), three-time ALMS champion, two 24 Hours of Le Mans class wins, 19 SCCA Trans-Am wins, five NASCAR wins) to give Corvette owners a thorough understanding of their car’s absurd capability and how to go about harnessing it. While any Corvette owner can pay-to-participate, the 3-day education in speed is offered to ZR1 owners as a thank you for purchasing the fastest (638 hp, 604 ft-lbs of torque), most expensive ($109,800) model to bear the name. The team of instructors teach classic driving techniques, like heel and toe shifting and avoidance braking maneuvers, to students flogging a range of Vette’s around the 2.2 mile road course at Spring Mountain – everything from a Grand Sport (base Vette with ZO6-inspired performance upgrades) to a 505 hp ZO6 and, on the last day, the all powerful ZR1. The video after the jump was taken from the passenger seat of a ZR1 with none other than Ron Fellows at the helm. As you will find, he made that track his bitch and drove the ZR1 like a guided scud missile. I am the giggling fool who enters the soundtrack every 30 seconds or so. Enjoy the video and check out our new slide show feature.
