Well, she is finally home - 2003 Cobra
Well, after much debate and deciding that I wasn't going to go and pick up the Cobra today... I talked myself into it. Left with a friend around 4:00pm and headed out to Adams. We got there around 5:15 or so.
Did some bs'n and showed me a few things on the car. After it passed my inspection we headed out to the gas station for a nice full tank of 100 for the long ride back home. Cruised out there, Adam opened her up once for me to get the feel of it, and then just cruised the rest of the way there.
After Adam filled the tank, he tossed me the keys, and said, "Here you go." I buckled in, the seats are ****ing amazing by the way, and started her up. After Adam instructing me about the clutch, I chattered my way bucking like a wild cowboy around the station, and headed out onto the road. Got a nice bucking bronco off the first light, and a little bit onto the next. I got a bit used to it, and we were finally about to hit the highway. It cruises perfectly on the highway and you don't even have to shift out of 6th when you need to get up and go.
Well no sooner do I start to get the feel of it, I caught a black spec in my rear view, coming up HARD. I look over at Adam and say, "Here we go...". And he replies, "What the ****, why doesn't this shit happen to me." So I waited until he was about 5 cars behind, downshifted into 4th, and waited till he was about 1.5 cars away... and hit it. The new C6 Vette never lost momentum and I just walked, and walked, and walked away from him. I let off at about 130 and slowed down, and no sooner am I back down to cruising speed, here comes Mr. C6 Vette... doing a RICER FLY BY! He is now driving like a jack ass, weaving in and out, and at one point, had his signal going left... we were in the left lane, to which I mentioned to Adam, "I'd signal and crash my Corvette into a wall if I just lost to a Mustang."
Well we got back to Adams, at which point, he had to part with his baby. He now has a sizable down payment for a C6 Z06 on top of whatever he has saved. He gave me the wipers (since they are off and just capped), the radio antenna (off), and he threw his radar detector into the deal (since I'm going to need one). Although, he did try to steal my iPass, I got that back though
I left, and just cruised 60-80mph down 94 the entire way home. What a solid ride. I am VERY lucky to have this.
Thanks all, just thought you guys would like a nice little story; although I can't compete with Dave's story telling skills, it is decent.
Well, here she sits, dirty, and in her new home. Damn, I have to wake up early tomorrow and clean the hell out of her!
