Ferrari Excites Silicon Valley
Montezemolo talks at Stanford and meets heads of Apple and Google

The Prancing Horse also conquers "Silicon Valley", the area South of San Francisco, where over a short period of time the most important IT companies in the world were born and where we find one of the world’s most prestigious Universities: Stanford. Also here in the world of technology and digital content the enthusiasm for the cars from Maranello, with avant-garde technology and the passion from those who build them, is enormous. For Ferrari the USA is the most important market in the world.

Luca di Montezemolo met Apple CEO Tim Cook and the heads of Google, talking in front of more than 600 students from Standford University. ''I’m not here to sell cars, but to communicate a dream,” he said under the applause of the guests at the conference 'View from the top'. The Ferrari Chairman encouraged the young students to follow their dreams: ''Be creative, follow your goals, use technology, dominate innovation, but don’t become dependent on machines, you have to be in the driver’s seat of your lives. Never lose the curiosity for what is around you.”

"Intelligence and innovative ideas can contribute to change and shape the future," Montezemolo concluded. “Passion and attention for the smallest details are what makes our cars, those who create them and those who drive them so special, living continuous excitement.”

Passion was also the golden thread at the friendly meeting with Tim Cook: ''I was impressed by his availability and openness,” Montezemolo said leaving the headquarters after a 2-hour face-to-face meeting. “We’re building cars, they build computers. But Apple and Ferrari are connected by the same passion, the same love for the product, maniacal attention to technology, but also to design.”

Tom Cook wanted to see the FF, Montezemolo had used to drive to Cupertino from close up, admiring the shapes and the interior of the 4-door 4x4 from the Prancing Horse, excited about the sound of the 12-cylinder engine. Ferrari has always been stimulating all over the world and also here in Silicon Valley.

Either he's trying to discreetly sell cars to the rich nerds of Silicon Valley or Montezemolo is the Steve Jobs of the car world?

 

Our CEO did a big Venture event out there a few weeks ago and the president of MBZ was there with an android powered SLS....letting everyone sit in it, etc. Sure he sold a few during that event.

 

there is more than passion between these companies - profit!

 

You rarely have profits without passion.
