Radio DJ Chris Evans Buys 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder for $10.9 Million If you got it, flaunt it! As the saying goes, and it appears celebrity DJ Chris Evans Certainly knows how to flaunt it when he paid €7,040,000 ($10.9 million) for a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder at RM Auctions at the weekend. The legendary model was once owned by Hollywood Actor James Colburn and was originally expected to fetch a price of around €3.5 million, but a 30 minute bidding war saw the price double over the original estimate .
A spokesman for RM Auction said: "Chris made a successful bid for his Ferrari, which will take pride of place in his own celebrated collection." The 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder was designed by Pininfarina and built by Scaglietti, power came from 2,953cc V12 engine pumping out 280bhp. Should you wish to see model in action, we suggest you dig deep into your old video collections for Ferris Bueller's Day Off, when it starred as the untouchable car owned by Cameron Frye's dad, which of course they totally trashed.

Now that is a car that I truly adore and so does Jeremy clarkson on the 599 F GTB test, this car has a special feeling and experience you dont tend to get from newer ferrari's which just feel normal rather than being special.
I like the fact that its simple and not very ugly compared to the newly released F-California GT F149.

Chris has done remarkably well for himself and has had some major ups and downs en route.
