FYI - while I realized this car was being compared to a 68 Vette, the original Sting Ray design dates back to 1957.



Also, the article you linked says the design dates to 1968 not 1963 - is the source incorrect? Not looking to argue, but wondering if the writer had unsound information.
Starting point for the open top makeover was the ‘Golden Roadster’ built in 1968 by Carrozzeria Fantuzzi.

1968 is indeed a mistake. I guess the author was confused because the film in which this car featured was shot in 1968...
The Golden Fantuzzi was built in 1963 which is correctly written here: COACHBUILD.com
