Ferrari Readying New 600 GTB? Teaser Briefly Appears on Official Site
Fresh from the announcement of the all-new 458 Italia, Ferrari published a teaser for a new model on its official site. In the list with the Prancing Horse company's road-going GT cars, right next to the 458 Italia, a box containing the text "600 GTB - Coming Soon" appeared for a few minutes before the Italians hastily removed the text. According to Quattroruote magazine, Ferrari said that the teaser was the result of an error.
Innocent mistake or not, the news spread around like a wildfire with many fans claiming that the 600 GTB will replace the 599 GTB Fiorano. Whatever the case may be, we'll keep a close eye on Ferrari's website for any future developments on the matter.

The 599 isn't even that old yet. Normally the FR V12 2-seater Ferraris get replaced every 5-7 years. The 599 has been around about 3 years now, right? Seems a little early to announce anything but if they have a 600 GTB in the works, this is brilliant marketing!

Is Ferrari turning the 599 GTB into the 600 GTB? No.
An Italian site perusing Ferrari's online media outlet found the screen you see above. At the end of the list of La gamma attuale -- the current range -- is a box captioned "600 GTB" accompanied by a "Coming soon" image.
The picture next to the "600 GTB" is a placemarker of Luca di Montezemolo above the caption 458 Italia which makes it look like the sitemasters were fiddling with the site's layout. Ferrari has told a few media outlets that it was a "web developer's mistake... and a "complete non-story." Moving on then...

It is too early to replace 599 GTB. HGTE pack was launched this year, so this means that major changes will not happen in next few years. But 599s are selling very slow, so this means we can see other limited version of this car or some mild update. There are rumors circulating that 600 GTS is in the works and spy-shots are appearing time to time. Some say there will be a mild update next year and 599 GTB M is coming.
From all those rumors the launch of stunning convertible seems logical if we remember the modern history of modern V12 Ferraris - 550 Barchetta and 575 Superamerica.
So I expect something like 600 GTS will be launched next Geneva auto show in 2010.
