let me add something positive to the thread.. i think the slogan at the time was

"RACE ON SUNDAY, SELL ON MONDAY"

That's no joke either. All of Ferrari's cars developed during the first 30 years were all made for the track and based their specifications on racing regulations. For example, in 1958 Ferrari stopped making V12 engines under 3 liters because that is what was required by motor racing regulations for cars in the sporting category. Interestingly, Ferrari tried to stay out of the prototype division as much as possible.

Often the drivers got to keep the cars they raced.
