Your best bet is to sign up at www.ferrarichat.com, and look up the 348/F355 Sub-Forum. Lots of good info there, and I think there is a reference thread for new purchasers.

Well, I dreamt of a 512BBi when I was a kid, but when it came time to buy, the F355 seemed to be the best balance of price/performance for a Ferrari newbie.

Mine is a 6-speed, and I would recommend you get one with a 6-speed if it's your first. There is nothing like the click-click noise when you move that shift lever between the gates, and the engine screaming in your ear . The earliest models (1995) are apparently the quicker ones, and have better throttle response than the later ones (1996-1999). The (minute) difference in performance, however, is only realized at the edge of the envelope ... you wouldn't notice it in everyday use.

About the only summation I have is; buy a well maintained one (watch out for the deals that are too good to be true!) Mileage doesn't really matter IMHO. Get one where all the services are done on time as a preventative measure and not as a result of a failure. Also, this is the last of the "old-school" Ferraris, and as such is very Italian. You will enjoy it either way, but it's best to go in with your eyes open.

TDF Blue is a nice color and it sure did shine on the Challenge Stradale:

One of the best for sure! I'd love to own one some day, and yes the sound is absolutely amazing!

Those wheels are nasty. In a bad way.
