a mate of mine would like to buy a 3gs that's either lightly used or BNIB. Would need to be shipped over to the UK.

I've been looking around for one as well. Your best bet would be ebay or craigslist. 3GS 16GB should be around $600 and 32GB around $700. It's pretty hard to find a new piece and cheaper than that unless you friend doesn't mind a used piece.
