McLaren P1 vs. the Nürburgring-Nordschleife

Well I haven't seen the episode, so I haven't seen the current board they are using in the studio, but if you check their website you will not find the Huayra atop the list any longer: BBC Two - Top Gear - Power Laps
Not sure if there is going to be some explanation of that soon, but I would certainly like to hear one.

The embarrassing and comical saga with this so called "car jurno" Steve Sutcliffe continues with this childish explanation on his blog:
G I'm sorry

Regards the 5g cornering claim, it’s a long and not especially compelling story, culminating in this official response from McLaren, who just emailed me saying; "We have a slightly embarrassing confession to make, and admit that the information quoted is incorrect - this fact was take from details regarding our Formula 1 car, and not the P1. So these figures relate to the F1 car instead. Sorry for this confusion. For information, the P1 can withstand lateral forces of up to 2g when cornering and braking." I'm sorry, too, that I didn’t spot this dear reader; I should have done. No excuse. And when I say that the P1 feels “as quick as anything I’ve ever driven including a Honda F1 car” I am exaggerating, of course. Slightly. But not by much. The P1 is much, much faster than I was expecting it to be, basically, and maybe it has frazzled my judgment somewhat in the process! Kind regards Steve
Some conclusions:
1. Mclaren gave him the wrong piece of press release - very, very professional IMO
;
2. SS wrote what he get without even reading it, haha;
3. exaggerating comparisons, but not much? How much is not much?
From the whole review at the end of the day, maybe the date is the only clear fact...

I don't see where the problem is? Sutcliffe made an mistake with the cornering G numbers, so what? This dont make him an liar or idiot, everyone make mistakes. And Sutcliffe is one of the best car reviewers out there.
And for the comparisons. Of course they are always exaggerating, you don't have to be a rocket scientist to know that no road car can be fast as a F1 car, I don't know why the hell he have to explain this?
If I say car x is fast like a rocket, do I need to give after that explanation that this was exaggerating? thats just stupid.
But these days I don't wonder. Every word will be dissected till it's "bad" enough to made the one who said it, look like an idiot. Just use your common sense on things like this.
Sutcliffes P1 review was amazing. Good job.
Maybe because they want to test both cars within the same conditions?

They know too, that if they dont test them at the same day or weather, the people will start discussions about which got the better conditions bla bla bla.
I know they dont care about it for all other cars, but in this case it makes sense for the P1 & 918. This is up to TopGear, I don't see(like some other guys here) a McLaren fault.

When presented the MP4-12C, McLaren already had the cake cooked with time (power lap) and in this case no power lap, hence my disappointment. I did not know (for my lack of English) that Top Gear was planning to do it later in time, during the episode of the 918 Spyder.
Possibly Zeus was carried away by my unfortunate comment.
Undoubtedly, the expectations generated around P1 & 918 are very big, and Top Gear will definitely squeeze the most from this situation.
My thoughts were that they release the P1 time during the episode of the 918 Spyder, I would not expect to see a test with both hypercars on the same day.
It will be very interesting to see if that happened, but in a way or another, is an episode not to miss.

Latest nasty internet rumor is that the McLaren P1 didn't show up for it's 'head-2-head' test againsed the 918.
Can anyone "in the know" validate this?
