At least for now, and with the new claim by McLaren that the 'Ring is too dangerous:
Why doesn't McLaren just let a reputable 3rd party (EVO, Sport Auto, Motor Trend, etc.) test a 'customer spec' P1 at the racetrack of thier choice? Pick a racetrack. Any racetrack. How does it compare with "lesser" cars?

Some seem to be taking the statement far too literally, disregarding that the preface of 'in excess' means 'better than', and how much better than is purposefully not spelled out.
I also love the people who have convinced themselves that just because McLaren aren't yet willing to spell out their exact time this is somehow unequivocal proof that it was slower than the 918.

McLaren brought all this negativity on themselves.......with ALL the hype, first with the 12C (took version 2.0 to finally compete with the 458) and now with it's halo car the P1. Pathetic really from a RACING COMPANY!
