My MP4-12C review
I've always wanted to experience being in a F-18 Hornet being shot down the runway off an aircraft carrier and when I give the MP4 gas that is what I would imagine it would be. I've always read and heard how fast this thing is but nothing could have prepared me for this. I really thought I was going to go back to the future when accelerating. And after I left off the gas I had the same expression Matt Farah did after he did his first blast in the Venom GT.
(Fast forward to 4:40 if you forgot)
The Mclaren was set in "sport" mode for both settings and I didn't change the settings nor did I need to. This thing was everything I imagine it would have been and more. It rides so comfortable, no rattles or squeaks. It sounds amazing, yeah its no 458 but WHO CARES. Driving on the highway you would think you were driving a Veyron, the amount of attention this thing gets is funny. Every single car that drove by looked out the window in aw like they were seeing a human walk on water. I thought the Gallardo spider I rented got alot of attention, that couldn't hold a candle to this.
The ONLY few things I could find wrong was 1. The brakes, I couldn't get use them. 2. The paddle shifts were heavy and you would really have to pull on them to change gears. 3. I can't afford one
I have been very lucky enough to have driven many cars, but this IMO is in its own league. Now to go play the powerball.

I recently test drove the mp4-12c and completely echo your sentiments. The sensation when you go full throttle is just unreal - like you are in a jet - and it doesn't stop! It makes the R8 V10 seem slow for sure.
I didn't have any troubles with the paddles during the test drive.

When my 12C had the 10.2 Upgrade done, bringing the HP up to 616, and the Engine was broken in, I could not believe how fast it was. I still cannot get over how quick it is, when my wife drove it recently, she commented on how quick it felt. With my other cars, I got used to the speed pretty quick, not with my 12C. It flat flies.

Speed is one thing; the 12C is admittedly very fast. BUT, the car has way too many glitches that keep popping up which make it more trouble than it is worth. I could expect this with the first batch of cars, but not after two years of production!! I can't overlook the annoying types of problems that this car keeps displaying. Spontaneously cracking windshields, crappy radio, check engine lights, numerous electronic anomalies, etc. On other forums, some owners just overlook these faults because they are fanboys who worship the company
. McLaren may have mastered the acceleration curve but this car is still in the experimental stage, IMO. I sure hope McLaren doesn't think customers are going to accept these types of problems with their upcoming Porsche competitor car (P13). Some of their dealers also leave a lot to be desired; there are good ones and others just plain suck.

I think any body who test drives the car for 30 mins will be shocked by the acceleration yet somewhat disappointed in the exhaust note. If you got a few hours then you can appreciate the car more. If you buy one AND most importantly put miles on it then you will truly appreciate the marvel this car is.
Does it have new production issues: ABSOLUTELY. It is frustrating at times - sure. But most of us owners will gladly put up with the electronic issues to get own/drive such a great car.
