Video: McLaren Designer Frank Stephenson Reveals Secrets Of The 12C Spider

The team over at the Drive youtube channel, (one our favorites on the web) got together with Chief designer for McLaren Automotive Frank Stephenson, last week in pebble beach, where he revealed the secret behind the 12C Spider's yellow paint job -- it has to do with Ayrton Senna and why the best automotive designer in the world is mother nature.
Just a refresher, the blast from 0 to 60 mph takes just 3.1 seconds in the drop-top 12C, and has a top speed at 207 mph. The Spider, just like it's fixed roof sibling, pumps out 616 horsepower from a 3.8-liter, twin-turbocharged V8 engine. The new must have spider will be fitted with a starting price tag of $265,750.

It was amazing. I did take pictures of the cars on the 18th but there were too many people at the concept lawn. The test drives were great as well. My personal highlight was driving the new ATS as I was very curious about the car and how it drives.

On another note, not quite related to this mp4 thread, how was the ATS???

Sorry for the out of topic...
ATS was a hoot. I had more fun in it that in the CTS-V...
Same dynamic balance as a 3 series but less weight. The 3.6 RWD car was fast and stable. The automatic gearbox paddle transmission responds very quickly with no delay. As for the car inside and outside...too much chrome. A V version is on its way probably in a year.
Overall a close match to a 3 dynamically.

Definetly one of the best color. Looks like your average yellow on photo, but when you see the reflections in the vid, awesome!!
Maybe the McLaren Philly guys can answer that: Is it an MSO option or one of the "normal" paint job?
Im asking because its not on the website yet, even when you build the spyder....
