I have to say the glass engine cover looks out of place: you can barely see the engine and it breaks down the lines of the car in the back. Plus when the roof is up, the glass is way too far back.
Btw...do not think I love Ferrari's implementation: when I sat in the Spidar at the Frankfurt autoshow last year I missed seeing the engine right behind me...
Hopefully the next gen will give us canvas top engine view and hard top practicality...

Its funny to me that it has the awkward, tiny, afterthought looking glass cover. It's almost like they let Ferrari guinea pig for them and noticed that EVERYONE complained about the solid cover and went oh shit we better find a place for glass. I really want to like mclaren more than the 458 but as of yet I can't say that I do.

Took me shorter than expected, liking more the 12C than the 458 in general. Well donde McLaren

Most of the McLaren fans said that they will take the 12C istead a 458. The Ferarri fans said the same thing with the 458. We need impartial opinions to judge this car. So, because I'm a Lamborghini fan and I would take a Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4 Spyder instead both of those two, my opinion could be a bit impartial.

I prefer the 458, coupe and convertible. I know that the McLaren is better on the track, but it hasn't got the design of the 458. The MP4-12C has everything that a supercar needs on its design. It follows the so much the design theory that has no character at all. Too simple, spectacualar but simple.

I want to see the P12. Everyone that knows a bit of it says that it's completely different to everything. Very futuristic.

Weird - I prefer coupes in general and am not a fan of the 12C. This vert looks far better than the coupe IMO and smashes the 458 visually.

I'd still spend 50k more and buy an aventador though.

I'mmmmmmmmm not soooooo sure about that dude. I've not driven the 12C; but the 458 is just soooooooooo freak'n good AND sexy.. that's tough to beat. I think the 458 looks fantastic in almost any color whereas the McLaren only looks good in a few colors. IMHO.

I can see where you ate coming from. I think I'm just at the wow factor now because it just got launched. Since day 1 I was never really a fan of the 458, I was excited for the MP but than I saw one and I didn't have that wow factor. Either way you can't go wrong.

The MP reminds me too much of an Evora. Unfortunatley for McLaren, Lotus launched their car, first.

I had my mind set on a 458 spyder. I haven't had a Ferrari and I really liked the hard top concept. I had an opportunity to drive a 458 about a year ago and was impressed but there were some things about it that I found unappealing. I just don't like the front mouth and there rear tail lights. Ergo the McLaren which I was invited to drive and was blown away. There are compromises. The quality of the leather is better in the Ferrari. The Ferrari sounds better. The McLaren is much easier to drive fast and is even faster in capable hands. The McLaren company seems more customer friendly and the experience that I have had with MC Philadelphia has been extraordinary. That's why I committed. So while I have a depo on a spider, I was impartial as an AM owner and the previous owner of many Porsches, AMG's Audis etc. My decision is based on my experience driving the car and the compromise of subtle over awkward. Now this may be an easier decision knowing that I have a truly beautiful car to sit next to the subtle or less stylish one. Having said that, for me it gives me the best of all worlds with the AM and the McLaren.
