McLaren teases the new 12C Spider

The few people I have talked to who have seen full pics seem to think it looks better then the coupe.

What would be crazy is if the glass engine cover actually pivoted up and down as the top went from up and down. You know, maintaining that surface from the roof to the rear is very important to maintaining airflow down to the rear spoiler. 3 more days.....

Not that I didn't like it but it didn't feel like it was in a super car territory , maybe because of the color, it was charcoal and it blend in with the dull grey city of New York, I don't know, but 458 in my opinion looks much more exclusive even though it also looks better on pictures.I was disappointed. But to each their own.

I have heard that the spider does look fantastic. In fact I spoke to a Mclaren engineer a year ago who said the car was first conceived as a convertible. If they have found a way to maintain the angle of the glass cover while the top is up or even when it's down, that would be genius. I think the problem for people with the 458S is the loss of potential. The side view of that car is great. From the rear, top up or down it could look much better. The cover with the vents looks snapped on. In the long un, Mclaren will be a good thing for Ferrari owners. They will drive Ferrari to be better. Otherwise, every time Mclaren out techs or out thinks a detail, Ferrari will be criticized and that is not their comfort zone. In the mean time, I cant' wait until Tuesday.
