McLaren Officially Reveals Enhancements to the 12C

The sound symposer is simple a tube with a valve connected to the intake of the engine.

There is a world of difference between a vacuum operated muffler bypass and reproducing engine noise through the speakers.

I know. But BMW is actually REPRODUCED (ARTIFICIAL) NOISE. With Porsche it's ACTUAL engine noise from the engine a few feet behind you. No speakers were harmed in the making of that noise!

i really don't think so, but i could be wrong? i'm just strictly talking from my ear. unless we see a diagram of the system, otherwise i would just think it's some active valves that opens & closes that connected to the audio system or other outlets. i drove it couple days ago. all the sounds are there. just different level when u're in different sitting (from N, S to T). nothing artificial i could hear.

I see.
Well, if it's a traditional muffler bypass I take everything back, and props to McLaren.
However, if it really is artificial engine noise played through the speakers, I will have to poop inside an MP4.

gents,
we should look into this. pretty interesting stuff.
from a cost perspective, don't u all think it's just a simple system but with a fancy term. i mean seriously, to have an artificial engine sound made to pair with the throttle is a total nonsense, unless again we're talking about cars like Prius or Leaf. it's just much simpler to have activating valves instead of the whole nine yard.

funny. my old E60 M5 sounded sick with the Eisenmann Race system. it's just out of the world sounded better than a Ferrari V12. to make it funnier, i kinda had my own manual ISG because i intentionally drove with the rear seats folded down all the time. i can tell u it's quite a bit difference in cabin noise between the rear seat up & down.
