Magnificent car the McLaren but I am a little bit shocked with the final words of Tiff and Plato.

 

I watched that last night.

Was quite surprised by their conclusion.

Seems the British Motoring Media prefer the 458.

 

Not surprised the two cars are so close in laptimes on the regular sized tracks so far.

Most interesting thing I see coming out about this rivalry is that so far there's no mention of the 911 GT2, ZR1 or GTR all of which are faster than the 458 at the ring. I get why they would want to compare it to the 458(they look alike and its Ferrari) but with all the hype everyone had that this was the next top dog... I guess we will have to wait for the Chinese Best Motoring to have the 5 cars compete?!!

 

^ great point but it makes a lot of sence to pair these two, tho a gt2rs will be interesting to put it in more mixes. In the evo comparo the 458 was faster than both.

Also I believe that Best Motoring did there final episode so no more Best Motoring.... I know sad.

 

2 motoring reviewers out of 2? I must say that i am very disappointed.

 

My bet is that the 12C will start eating more and more of these competitors as more reviews are done.

I think the main thing is the design intent of the cars. The 911 GT2 RS is a track focused car. Not a very fast GT like these. The ZR1 is meant to give all the performance and thrill of the best exotics but at a price mere mortals can afford. Same with the GT-R, except for the thrill part, it is more like the MP4-12C to the extreme. The MP4-12C was designed as a direct competitor to the 458. Performance and exoticness. The others have different markets.

 

There is a video out there with Ben Collins (ex-Stig) driving around the track in the GT2RS, 458, McLaren, Lambo, plus more. And the 458 was the fastest. He said, the MP4-12C had too much electronics.
