Frankly I thought drag racing the two cars was entertaining (Top Gear is about entertainment, not facts or education) but the whole scene was not necessarily representative of reality. The Veyron's Launch Control function was not utilized - if it had been the F1 would have been seeing the Veyron's tail lamps either right from the start or very shortly thereafter.

You might want it to say 'hole shot' as that's the term in drag racing.

Doubt that actually - it would have depended heavily on the surface they used. In the CAR Magazine article where they covered the 0-100-0 mph record set by the F1 LM of 11.5 seconds, they noted the car had severe issued with traction in the lower gears from a standstill. It actually proved to be a bit slower in initial acceleration times than the standard F1.
This is where the weight of the Veyron would be to its benefit - not to mention more advanced tires and of course its AWD system.
From a rolling start instead of the standing start that Top Gear did the LM would likely do better, but again you would be nullifying the advantage of launch control with the Veyron, and most drag races start when the light turns green.
