Lancia Stratos Revival Officially Dead

Plans for a limited production run of a new Lancia Stratos are officially dead. According to many reports, Ferrari CEO Dr. Amedeo Felisa offered his support for the one-off project but not for the production run.

The Lancia Stratos revival borrowed much from the Ferrari 430 Scuderia, including a shortened chassis and the Scuderia’s 4.3 liter V8 engine. We can only conclude this is Ferrari's main reason for blocking a production run.

The New Stratos, created by German businessman Michael Stoschek and designed by Pininfarina, was to be a modern day tribute to the legendary rally car of the seventies.

Maybe they could use another car to build a new Stratos on.

 

Shame; but honestly- the right thing to do. Ferrari doesn't need its 430 whored out to be another make.

Yeah - especially not to another make which itself makes rebadged chryslers. A brand consisting of rebadged Chryslers and one rebadged Ferrari is ridiculous.

 

A) Because they own the rights to it.
B) Because they're Ferrari and don't give a fvck.

Bummer. Would have loved to see a revival of this legend. I think the price was too steep and scared most of the potential customers off.

 

^Agreed, but they should have tried another engine, like possibly chryslers v8??? And then the viper platform... Idk. or they could go back to the original and use a turbo 4 or 6 cylinder engine.

 

Damn this would have been cool.
