Why does the QP sound so much better than the Coupe?

Straightforward question ... most QPs sound incredible, and the Coupe/Spyder/Gransport doesn't have any of the amazing shriek. Sounds much lower and almost dull ... what gives?

Why don't you try and compare the same generation of vehicles smarty pants?

errr ... Coupe production is from 2002 to 2007, QP is 2004 and up.
They both supposedly use a dry sump Ferrari derived 4.2L V8 ...

what am I missing chief?

I knew you were going to reference the production years but IMO you should compare the new GranTurismo, not the old Coupe.

Could perhaps be the length of the piping itself? Since the QP is so much longer perhaps there's more 'swirl'?

I know those QP's sound AWESOME!

Different mufflers or catalysts most likely, maybe just a different layout. When I heard the prototype GT in person in 2007, it sounded similar to the coupe. Didn't have that raspy tone like the QP. But when my friend pulled away from dinner in one of the production cars a few months later, it sounded just like the QP... My guess is different mufflers.

Well, when you look at it that way... haha I didn't think it through, sorry.
Larini and Tubi don't do cats do they? I know the Tubis I've looked at were cat back. It's gotta be something in the exhaust, or fuel injection/injectors... does anyone know if injection style changed between the two (i.e. direct port)?
I just thought the difference between the pre-production GT and production model would explain some of it - doh.

On edit: maybe it's in the center section, the larini video for the GS says its got a stock center section.

In the 3200/Coupe's defence, I have never EVER heard a car that made the hair on my neck stand up like a 3200GT with Tubi's. Unfortunately, getting one Tubied up GT would be almost as much as the car is worth in this economy, so they are definitely a rare breed . . .
